Slavin Tops the Bids at Exeter

The afternoon of Friday 21st April saw the South West Charolais Association’s 38th Annual Spring Show & Sale take place at Exeter Livestock Centre, with gracious support from Kivells Ltd. Director Mark Davis. A total of four bulls sold, to an average price of £4147.50. Furthermore, two heifers also changed hands to an average price of £1522.50.

Lovistone Slavin, Champion, sold for 4,500gns

The top price of the day was 4,500gns and was secured by the day’s Champion16-month old Lovistone Slavin from the herd of B Nancekivell & Son in Okehampton. Slavin was sired by Balthayock Hamish, a trait leader in Gestation Length EBV, and he is out of Woodpark Fearless daughter Lovistone Oprah. Securing the final bid for this young bull was P & O Jemmison of Barnstaple, Devon.

Close behind Slavin, at a final price of 4,000gns, was Reserve Champion Trenestrall Scotch, bred by W Palmer & Son of Truro. Scotch was born to Trenestrall Moselle, a daughter of Springfarm Eldon, and he was sired by Chameran Marek. This impressive 22-month-old caught the eye of P Burrow, who will be taking him back to their herd in Ottery St. Mary, Devon.

Selling for the next highest price of 3,800gns, was Moynton Spartacus from P Old’s herd in Dorchester. Spartacus introduces some welcome genetic diversity, with his dam Moynton Mimosa being a daughter of the French AI bull PTI Prince. He was sired by Marne Gucci, who previously won the title of Breed Champion at the Royal Cornwall Show. Winning the bid and taking this 24-month-old home was R Coaker of Yelverton, Devon.

Finally, Penhargard Saucyboy from T Stacey & Sons reached a final price of 3,500gns. This polled 23-month-old was sired by the Swedish-born Simontorp Marabou Av and his dam is Penhargard Olympic, a Cockerington Gothic daughter. Saucyboy caught the attention of Everard Partners, who won the bid and will be adding him to their enterprise based in Dulverton, Somerset.
