A steady demand saw 16 bulls sell to average £4948 at the Northern Ireland Charolais Club’s Spring Spectacular show and sale at Swatragh Livestock Market.
The show was judged by Harold Stubbs of the Derryharney herd, who selected Fury Aero, from Patrick Hackett, Ballywholan, Clogher, as overall champion. At just 15-months-old, this double F94L carrier went onto top the day’s trade, selling for 8000gns to Tommy Whiteside. His sire is Cloonglasna11 Socks, while his dam is the heifer Fury Tulip, a Nelson daughter.
Making 6200gns was Shivey Archie, a 14-month-old double F94L bull from Niall Cameron Hamilton, Cookstown. Sired by Goldies Carnival and out of the Maerdy Fiend daughter Coolnaslee Lucylu, that one stood first in its class and sold to Alister McMullan.
Another first prize winner, Innisrush Voldermort, a Goldies Icon son from W Whyte, Innisrush, Portglenone, sold at 5100gns to Brendan Laverty. His dam, Innisrush Rosey, is by Stranagone Jones.
