September 8, 2012 Stock bull tops Ugie Charolais dispersal at 12,500gns

Charolais bulls met a strong demand selling to a top of 12,500gns when the Ugie herd, owned by Jimmy Wilson, Peterhead, Aberdeenshire, went under the hammer at Stirling on Saturday 8 September.

Goldies Ganker

Leading the trade at 12,500gns was Goldies Banker (pictured) TI +44, SRI +49, by Oldstone Egbert and out of Goldies Umble. This one was purchased by N Barclay, Insch Aberdeenshire along with Goldies Elation TI +58, SRI +54, another stock bull, this time by Dingle Hofmeister and out of Blelack Ripple, at 10,000gns.

Heading the females was Ugie Erin, a three year old by the 28,000gns Farleycopse Turbo, with her five month old heifer calf Ugie Heidi at foot by Banker.. The pair sold for 9,000gns to D Muirhead, By Arbroath, Angus.

Next came the four year old Ugie Charm by Tattenhall Impreccable and her seven month old heifer calf Ugie Hannah, by Banker. Together they sold for 8,000gns with Charm going to A Gunn, Reay, Thurso, and her calf purchased by N and S Caul, Kirkton of Auchterhouse, Angus.

A call of 7,500gns secured the four year old Ugie Diamond, another Turbo daughter and due to calve to Banker this autumn, for I Thomson, Ellon, Aberdeenshire.

Ugie Dotty, another four year old sired by Turbo, went for a bid of 6,800gns with her four month old bull calf Ugie Hurricane at foot by Banker, to D C Burkill, Driffield, East Yorkshire. Later Dotty’s maiden heifer daughter Ugie Gladys, also by Banker and a Royal Highland Show junior female champion, made 6,000gns to go home with Boden and Davies, Stockport, Cheshire.

Also secured for 6,000gns was the two year old Ugie Fiona, by Banker, purchased by D E Evans, Mold, Flintshire.

Calls of 5,500gns were made three times. First came Ugie Algie, a six year old cow by Turbo with her bull calf Ugie Hallmark at foot, by Banker. This outfit sold to J Stuart, Ballindaloch, Morayshire.

Also at 5,500gns was Ugie Becca by Turbo and her female calf Ugie Hawk. This six year old and her four month old calf by Banker were purchased by J Wight, Biggar, Lanarkshire.

Ugie Flair, a two year old Banker daughter, was knocked down sold for 5,500gns to R Lane, Newport, Shropshire.

Seven year old Ugie Ada realised a bid of 5,000gns with her two month old bull calf Ugie Harbro. This Banker daughter was secured by Clova Farms, Carnoustie, Angus.

Averages: 32 cows with calves at foot £3,677, 9 in calf cows £2,794, 18 in calf heifers £3,033, 14 maiden heifers £2,812, 2 stock bulls £11,812.
