Charolais bulls went to 4,000gns at Welshpool Multi Breed Show and Sale on Thursday 17 May.
Leading the sale was Maerdy Ferrari TI +21, SRI +21, a two year old from D E Evans, Mold, Flintshire. This one was by Jupiter and out of a home-bred cow, selling to D H Williams and Sons, Llanwrin, Machynleth for a call of 4,000gns. The same breeder also sold 22 month old Maerdy Fugle TI +33, SRI +30, a son of the 55,000gns Thrunton Voldemort and out of a home-bred cow, to E Rowlands, Bala, Gynedd for 3,000gns.
Next came Brynffanigl Guardian TI +32, SRI +33, secured by D and M G Hughes and Sons, Oswestry, Shropshire, for 3,500gns. This 13 month old from R T Roberts, Abergele, Clwyd, was by Alsnow Almighty and out of a home-bred dam.
Going for 3,000gns was Shraden Freedom TI +31, SRI +22, by Shraden Osram and out of a home-bred dam. From W R J Everall, Shrewsbury, Shropshire, this 18 month old sold to N G and G G G Davies, Newtown, Powys.
Averages: 10 bulls, £3,055.50.
