May 28, 2012 Charolais bulls to 4,900gns at Dungannon

Charolais met a ready demand and a level trade selling to a top of 4,900gns at the Northern Ireland Charolais Club’s official May show and sale at Dungannon on Monday 28 May, with 31 out of the 35 bulls forward sold to an average of £2,818.

Top lot of the day Ramrad Grande sold for 4,900gns

Heading the day’s trade was Ramrad Grande a son of the 14,000gns Allanfauld Superscot and out of a home-bred dam, knocked down sold to S Hunter, Bushmills, County Antrim at 4,900gns. This 16 month old was bred by R D A Morrow, Coleraine, County Londonderry.

A call of 4,600gns secured the male and supreme champion Kilbridefarm Grant, TI +43, SRI +42. By the 19,000gns Corrie Alan and out of a home-bred dam, this 14 month old from W H Robson and Sons, Ballyclare, County Antrim was purchased by N McIlwaine, Omagh, County Tyrone.

Hollywell Falkirk TI +42, SRI +40, an 18 month old from J and S Middleton, Londonderry, County Londonderry, sold for 4,000gns. This one was by the 14,000gns Goldies Usher and out of a home-bred dam and sold to V Black, Cookstown, County Tyrone.

A bid of 3,600gns was made twice. First came Ardanhill Flourish ET by Major and out of Merveille, selling to Devlin Brothers, Coagh, County Tyrone. This 20 month old class winner came from P McCormack, Cookstown, County Tyrone.

Also selling for 3,600gns was 13 month old class winner Mullaghbane Gareth. By Derrygiff Mills and out of a home-bred dam, this one was bred by W E F Elliott, Florencecourt, County Fermanagh, and was knocked down sold to W J Boyd, Kesh, County Fermanagh.

Two lots sold for 3,400gns. Ballinlare Goldeneye by the 55,000gns Sportsmans Columbo and out of a home-bred dam was secured by a call from K Walsh, Londonderry, County Londonderry. This 15 month old was from J H Wilson and Sons, Newry, County Down.

A bid of 3,400gns won Cornascriebe Gordon TI +14, SRI +11, for S Taylor, Belfast, County Down. From J A Watson and Son, Portadown, County Armagh, this 15 month old was by Bowerhouses Topper and out of a home-bred dam.

A call of 3,250gns secured Aughafad Gilbert, a 14 month old by Aughafad Doolittle ET and out of a home-bred dam. This one was bred by R H Sinnamon, Dungannon, County Tyrone and was purchased by R Wilson, Newtownstewart, County Tyrone.

The reserve supreme champion Woodpark Glen, by Pirate and out of a home-bred dam was sold for 3,200gns. This 14 month old from W Short, Omagh, County Tyrone went home with W Hanna, Ballymoney, County Antrim.

Two bulls sold for 3,100gns. Gort Greg, another Pirate son and out of Annsville Deanna was knocked down sold to T Campbell, Dromore, County Down. This 14 month old was bred by M McVeigh, Dungannon, County Tyrone.

Fourteen month old Corcreevy Gerard from D Orr, Fivemiletown, County Tyrone was knocked down sold at 3,100gns to D Eagleson, Ballygawley, County Tyrone. Gerard was by Moorlough Palo and out of Glencardon Delight.

A call of 3,000gns was made twice. The senior male champion, Moorlough Factor by Pirate and out of a home-bred dam, was purchased by H McCambridge, Ballymena, County Antrim. This 17 month old came from J McBride, Strabane, County Tyrone.

Next came Gortdonaghy Geoff, a 15 month old son of the 55,000gns Sportsmans Columbo and out of Carrowhill Amber selling for 3,000gns. From G Cutler, Enniskillen, County Fermanagh, he was knocked down sold to V McErlain, Armoy, County Antrim.

Ballyoak Gore, another Sportsmans Columbo son and out of Killadeas Beryl was purchased for 2,900gns by O McDevitt, Limavady, County Londonderry. This 15 month old came from S and A McKenna, Clogher, County Tyrone.

Female section The female trade was led by the 17 month old reserve female champion, Drumacritten Faith, from W and M Nelson, Rosslea, County Fermanagh at 3,900gns. This Doonally New daughter out of Derryharney Admiral was bought by R Moore, Newry, County Down.

Kiltybane Fawn, the female champion, was knocked down sold at 3,600gns to A O’Kane, Limavady, County Londonderry. This 19 month old heifer by Cretlevane Albertz and out of a home-bred dam was from S and A Bellew, Newry, County Down.

Next came Drumconnis Fiji from W J J Brown, Clogher, County Dyrone at 3,100gns. Purchased by G Davison, Portadown, County Armagh, this 21 month old heifer was by the 55,000gns Thrunton Voldemort and out Drumconnis Sunshine.

Two lots were knocked down sold at 2,500gns. Toberlane Fussy, a 22 month old by Kiltybane Best and out of a home-bred dam from W Causey, Cookstown, County Tyrone was purchased by F W White, Portadown, County Armagh.

Also selling for 2,500gns was Dartonhall Fern, secured by R Moore, Newry, County Down. This 20 month old Knockane Collen daughter and out of Greaghglass Marlana came from J A Erskine, Killylea, County Armagh.

Averages: 31 bulls, £2,818.74. 11 maiden heifers, £2,406.93.
