TYSON KNOCKS OUT THE COMPETITION AT THE ENGLISH WINTER FAIR
The annual English Winter Fair and National Pedigree Calf Show held at Staffordshire County Showground, took place on 18 & 19 November 2023. This prestigious event was kindly sponsored by Tithebarn Ltd, The Royal Smithfield Club, IAE and media partners The Farmer. The ten strong pedigree Charolais classes were skilfully judged by well-known pedigree breeder by Mr J Goldie, Annan, Dumfriesshire.
The winner of the senior bull class born between 1 October 2022 and 31 December 2022 and the male and overall champion was homebred October-2022 born, Brailes Tyson by Balthayock Musketeer out of Westcarse Molly exhibited by Brailes Livestock. The junior bull calf title was awarded to G H Woolatt’s, Sopwell Unbelievable by Mortimers Phenomenal out of Sopwell Peggy born in March-2023.
The female champion and reserve overall champion was the winner of the junior female section born between 1 January 2023 and 30 June 2023, Teme Umbrella born in January-2023 and sired by Balthayock Ranger out of Teme Nigella. Standing second in this junior class was Brailes Livestock, Coolnaslee Ursula bred by Mr J Crawford, sired by Hatenon out of Prime Louise and born in February-2023. Third place was awarded to Nuthampstead Una bred by G P Parker, exhibited by E Garner, and sired by Glenericht Pogba, out of Nuthampstead Oona born in January-2023.
The senior female classes for heifers born between 1 October 2022 and 31 December 2022 was won by Brailes Tangerine a westcarse Houdini daughter out of Bassett Orange from Brailes Livestock. Teme Tulip born in December-2022 by Balthayock Ranger out of Teme Ooth was placed second and in third was E Garner’s Finnwest Tamzin a October-2022 born female by Bleaklow Rex, out of Bleaklow Lunar.
The coveted Duke of Norfolk Group of three competition was represented by Teme Umbrella, Brailes Tangerine, and Brailes Topaz.
