October 21, 2025 Glenernan Dispersal Sale

The Glenernan Charolais herd bowed out in style at Stirling, with a phenomenal demand throughout Billy and Moira Milne’s dispersal sale, peaking at 31,000gns.

Established in Aberdeenshire 30 years ago, the Milnes have enjoyed a great amount of success with the herd, with Glenernan breeding going on to do well for many pedigree and commercial breeders. Those productive breeding lines attracted a huge crowd to the sale, which resulted in six five-figure prices. Overall, 14 cows and calves averaged £7950, while 16 cows levelled at £6070; six young heifers at £4760; seven bull calves at £4665 and two stock bulls averaged £19,425.

Leading the trade at 31,000gns, was the stock bull, Kinclune Superman, which had originally been purchased from Jock Wilson at Thainstone, in February 2023. A son of Goldies Lad, out of the Goldies Ivan daughter, Kinclune Nancy, he sold to Jim Innes, Dunscroft, Huntly.

Top in the females was the two-year-old heifer Glenernan Urosie, a Marwood Robocop daughter, which sold at 21,000gns to JP Clark, Kinnahaird, Strathpeffer. She had been successfully shown through the summer, winning the breed championship at Stirling and standing second at the Royal Highland.

The dam of that heifer, Glenernan Posie, sold for 16,000gns, along with her bull calf at foot, the Marwood Robocop-sired Glenernan Abracadabra. At six years old, Posie is by Elgin Jagger and out of Glenernan Matilda, a Dunesk General daughter. That duo also headed home with Jim Innes, to Dunscroft, Huntly.

Another cow and calf unit, Glenernan Nicola and her heifer calf, Glenernan Adele, sold for 13,000gns to JC Maciver, Wester Coltfield, Forres. Nicola is by Elgin Jagger, while her calf is a daughter of Kinclune Superman.

Also making 13,000gns were Glenernan Sunrise, a Thrunton Platinum-sired cow, and her bull calf at foot, Glenernan Angus, another by Superman. They sold to J Gordon, Waterside, Forbes, Alford.

The same buyer paid 10,000gns for Glenernan Ulovely, by Thrunton Platinum, and her Marwood Robocop-sired heifer calf, Glenernan Angel.

*Meanwhile, the dispersal of John Christie’s small Nethercarse herd peaked at 10,000gns, for the rising two-year-old heifer Nethercarse Ursula, a Neptune JC daughter, out of Westcarse Rosita. She sold to Michelle Hanson, Upper Drakemyres, Forgie.
