Rapunzel Towers Above at the Royal Welsh Show
Judge: David Barker, Caylers Charolais
Despite grey skies, the Charolais breed shined bright at the Royal Welsh Show 24th July 2023, with thirty-two animals in total appearing before David Barker to be judged by his expert eye. Our thanks go to our stewards, Gareth Roberts, Will Owen, Alwyn Rees and Medwyn Williams as well as to Emma of Robert Smith Photography for the livestream commentary.
The spotlight shined on Harestone Rapunzel in this year’s show as she won Overall Champion and Female Champion. A 3-year-old heifer, Rapunzel was exhibited by Mr Sean Mitchell, Cumbria and bred by R & N Barclay, Aberdeenshire. She was sired by Harestone Nano and out of Harestone Nancy.
Following with Reserve Overall Champion and Reserve Female Champion was Teme Stardust, a 2-year-old heifer bred and exhibited by VAS & SM & TVS Corbett of Knighton, Powys. Stardust was sired by the 70,000gns Barnsford Ferny, and her dam, Teme Magnolia achieved Breed Champion at the Royal Welsh Show in 2018.
