Dungannon Charolais peak at 8,000gns
Charolais led this year’s pedigree bull trade in NI selling to a top of 8,000gns in Dungannon on Monday 26 May at the NI Club’s show and sale.
The leading 8,000gns bid came towards the end of the day for male and overall supreme champion, Burnside Iceberg TI +14, SRI +20, a 12 month old by Clyth Diplomat and out of a homebred dam going back to Balmyle Vagabond. Bred and exhibited by father and son team, Brian and William McAllister, Kells, Ballymena, he sold to R Pedlow, Lurgan.
Next at 3,400gns was Killadeas Ivan, a 13 month old by the 16,000gns Blackford Dynamite from Stuart and David Bothwell, Ballinamallard, Fermanagh. The buyer was Tony Martin, Dunloy, Ballymena.
A bid of 3,200gns secured the reserve senior male champion, Brogher Hamlet TI +23, SRI +22 for Seamus Hughes, Newtownards. A 19 month old by Corrie Alan, he was bred and exhibited by Trevor Phair, Ennislkillen, Fermanagh.
Four entries shared a 3,000gns bid. First to go was Toberlane Hustler, an 18 month old Oldstone Egbert son from W Causey, Cookstown, Tyrone to B Blaney, Cushendall, Antrim. Next at 3,000gns was Ballymather Harold, a 17 moth old by Thrunton Bonjovi from I Rea, Crumlin, Antrim to Seamus O’Connor, Castlewellan, County Down.
A bid of 3,000gns secured KiltyBane Hero for JT Robinson, Claudy, Derry. Bred and exhibited by S and A Bellew, Newry, County Down, Hero was a 17 month old by the 9,000gns Tullygarley Alibaba.
Benjamin Henderson, Enniskillen, Fermanagh made the final 3,000gns call for Coolnaslee Ivor, a 16 month old by the 9,000gns Goldies Carnival from Gilbert Crawford, Maghera, Derry.
Coolnaslee Hawthorne TI +19, SRI +14, a 20 month old heifer commanded the leading 2,600gns female bid. Sired by the 9,500gns Corcreevy Dingle, she was bred and exhibited by Gilbert Crawford and sold to EDG Johnston, Cookstown, Tyrone. Next at 2,500gns was the female champion, Kilgort Henri, an 18 month old Ashleigh Victor daughter from A O’Kane, Ballykelly, County Derry to F Fields, Moneymore.
