CHAROLAIS LEADS AT BALLYMENA SHOW

It was yet another day for the Charolais at Ballymena Show when the breed won the Interbreed Beef Award, reserve award supreme championof the show,best Interbreed beef pairs, reserve Commercial Championship and best breed on parade.

Taking the top award in the beef breeds was Ashleigh Victor, owned by Gregory Donnelly, Martin Donaghy and Sean McGovern. This bull has already taken the supreme championship at Tullamore and the Charolais championship at the Highland Show as well as reserve Beef Interbeed at Balmoral. He crowned his Beef Interbreed award at Ballymena with the reserve supreme champion of the show.

Taking the Beef Interbreed pairs award were Brunside Bimp and Burnside Baff from Brian and William McAllister's herd at Kells, while Burnside Coyote from this same herd took the reserve Charolais championship and along with Gilbert's Crawford's Coolnaslee Countess qualified for the heifer section in the Dectomax final at Clogher Valley Show. Qualifying for the bull section of the Dectomax final were Kinnegohill Concorde form Nelson Weir, Junior's herd at Loughgall, Tullygirvan Commander from Cecil Robinson's herd at Ballygowan and Burnside Caveman from Brian and William McAllister's herd at Kells.

When all of these quality animals were joined by the rest of the Charolais class winners they formed a most impressive line-up to take the best breed on parade award.



Dectomax qualifiers in the bull classes at Ballymena Show were Nelson Weir, Jun., Loughgall with Kinnegohill Concorde; Cecil Robinson, Ballygowan with Tullygirvan Commander and William McAllister, Kells with Burnside Caveman. Frank McCrystal, front left, was on hand to present the rosettes and is pictured with Brian McAllister, partner in the Burnside herd.



Two quality heifers which qualified at Ballymena Show for the Dectomax final were exhibited by Irwin Michael, left. who exhibited Coolnaslee Countess for Gilbert Crawford, Maghera, and William McAllister who exhibited Burnside Coyote for Brian and William McAllister, Kells. Brian McAllister with Frank McCrystal of Pfizer Animal Health displays the rosettes.

Eimear McGovern, Clogher, had the mighty task of showing Ashleigh Victor to win the Beef Interbreed championship and reserve supreme champion of the show at Ballymena Show for Gregory Donelly, Sean McGovern and Martin Donaghy.



Reserve commercial champion at Ballymena Show was this supberb Charolais heifer exhibited by Louise Breen, Augher.
