HOLSWORTHY 2 April 2008 Holsworthy Charolais bid to 2,550gns Charolais bulls met a keen demand from commercial producers selling to a top of 2,550gns in Holsworthy on Wednesday 2 April at the South West Charolais Club’s official spring show and sale.
Leading the trade at 2,550gns was the day’s champion, Pengwedna Buster, a 21 month old Maerdy USA son and out of a Maerdy bred cow going back to Maerdy Grimaldi. Bred and exhibited by Mrs and Miss AE Pascoe, Helston, Cornwall he was knocked down sold to KC and JC Heard, Okehampton, Devon. Next at 2,050gns was the two year old Littlebovey Bart from Henry and Emma Vooght, Bovey Tracey, Devon to C Morrish, Barnstaple, Devon. A Balthayock Tomahawk son, he was out of a Bassingbourn bred cow bred from Glenleary lines. A bid of 2,000gns secured Lovistone Baron for AS Tamblyn and Son, Liskeard, Cornwall. This two year old bred by BR Nancekivell, Okehampton, Devon was by Penhole Samaritan and out of a Clayknight bred cow. Two lots commanded a bid of 1,850gns. First in the ring was Saxon Betton, a two year old by MMB Apollon from Devon based breeders, MF, SA and CM Conley, Moretonhampstead, Devon to LM Paull, Fowey, Cornwall. The second 1,850gns bid was made by AS Tamblyn and Son, Liskeard, Cornwall for Balbithan Brazil, a rising two year old by the 10,000gns Inverlochy Topsire from Mr and Mrs Andrew White, Worth Matravers, Dorset. Females sold to a top of 1,600gns for an entry from RS and SM Hopper, Bude to Messrs Power, Okehampton. Bassingbourn Tullia was a five year old Maerdy Osborne daughter offered with her 10 month old heifer, Penfound Celia, by Riddlecombe Upstart. Averages: nine bulls £1,892.22 Auctioneers: Kivells
