The
final of the Charolais Young Breeders stock judging competition was held at
Seawell Grounds, Foxley, Towcester courtesy of Peter and Sheelagh Donger,
and was generously sponsored by Weatherbys.
The overall winner once again
came from the
Northern Ireland
club, with Stuart Wilson, from the Aghyoule herd taking the top accolade
with a score of 143 out of a possible maximum of 150 points. He won a trip
to the French National Charolais Show to be held at Ferme du Marault,
Magny Cours, Nevers on the 1st September.
In the 18 to 21 years old
category the winner was Ellis Mutch of the Forglen herd,
Banff,
Aberdeenshire. Ellis`s prize was a trip to Agribition in November to
represent BCCS along with young stock judges selected from other UK breed
societies.
The winners of the Fairway
Trophy team competition, with a combined score of 274 points were from the
Border Charolais club represented by Edwin Holliday, of Cleamire and Rachel
Bell from Hallbankgate. Rachel, also won first prize in the junior section
Cennydd Jones from the Glasne
herd, representing
Wales
was first in the intermediate section, and took second place overall with a
score of 139 points.
