Hopes Auction Co, Wigton held their weekly sale of Primestock on Tuesday
when there was an entry of 248 prime cattle, 39 bulls, 694 hoggs & 80 ewes.
This week’s sale was held in conjunction with show & sale of prime
Charolais cattle on behalf of the Border Charolais Club
This show was kindly sponsored by Montgomerie Feeds, Silloth and Schering
Plough Animal Health.
The judging was carried out by Murray Hardy, Scotbeef Ltd, Bridge of
Allan, who awarded the Championship to a Home Bred Charolais cross Heifer
shown by TA & A Jefferson, Aspatria Hall, Aspatria which sold for the top
price of 235.00p per kg and £1445.25 and was purchased by local Butcher
Richard Harrison of King Street, Wigton. The Reserve Championship was
awarded to D A Harrison, The Old Vicarage, Westnewton for a Steer which sold
for 175.0p and realised £1295 per head.
