£6,100 CHAROLAIS TOPS THE TRADE AT CALY SALE Willie and Allan Brewster set the trade alight with their champion Charolais heifer which sold for the day’s top price of £6,100. She was sired by the successful CORRIE PRICELESS out of a home-bred black Limousin cow. They also sold the reserve autumn born champion bullock for £1,500. Charolais also took the second top price of the day with a heifer consigned by David Henderson of Auchenvoch. A 10 month old calf sired by CARRADALE NEPTUNE, she was purchased by Ewan MacPherson, Barcladine, Oban. The same consigner sold another Charolais heifer for £1,100. Duncan Semple produced a Charolais steer by CARRADALE TOPSIDE which sold for £2,050 to Robin Roberts of Anglesey, and from the same consigner was a Charolais heifer sold for £1.300 to Dermot Small. Hugh and Lynn Dunlop sold one of their first show potential Charolais heifers by TULLYGARLEY UNI for £1,600 to the Paton family at the spott, and Andrew Fleming, Gavinburn, sold a 6 month old Charolais heifer for £1,500 to Ian Dick, Kippenoch, and Dumbarton. In the main autumn show and sale of 532 suckled calves the Henderson’s of Auchenrivoch sold the best pen of four Charolais steers to weight 440kg and realising £670. The reserve pen of four were also Charolais from Holehouse. Their average weight was 475kg and sold for £570 a piece. The tpp pen of four heifers was also from Auchenrivoch. They weighed 424kg and sold for £610. Over the two days the Auchenrivoch consignment of 46 calves averaged £734.61p.
