October 20, 2014 Stirling Charolais peak at 22,000gns; 84 bulls average £6,654

Charolais lead multi-breed week: highest number of bulls sold + highest average price

British Charolais met a strong commercial demand from a packed ringside in Stirling on Wednesday 22 October where prices peaked at 22,000gns at the breed society’s autumn sale. Charolais once again remained dominant during the week’s multi-beef breed fixtures, by recording the highest number of bulls sold and highest average price with 84 entries through the ring to average £6,654; furthermore, 10 lots made five figures and 55 lots commanded 5,000gns or more.

“Bulls met a very level trade throughout, a trend underpinned by the commercial sector, and it was those quality entries with good EBV data for calving ease which were particularly sought after. A further 11 lots were booked through the final auctioneer’s sale sheet bringing the total clearance to 88%,” commented society chairman, Steve Nesbitt.
