NEW JUNIOR HERD SIRE

KERSKNOWE CLANSMAN
sire: Moelfre Viscount Dam:
Kersknowe Tessa
Jointly owned with J
Christie, Westcarse
The Lochend Charolais Herd is a relatively small but
very select herd of around a dozen cows.
It was initially set up in February 1994 with the purchase of
BEEFORD ANGELINA.
This was an inspired decision fueled by the knowledge that the nine year old cow
was the Dam of the tremendous breeding stock bull -
GARNER EDITOR who had been
used at Lochend on commercial suckling cows since 1991.
EDITOR went onto become
one of the best breeding bulls of commercial show calves of his generation,
including MOONLIGHT LADY
- champion Heifer & Reserve Overall at the Smithfield
Show for Ewen & Donald McPherson in 1996. Editor's Pure bred calfs included
GRETNAHOUSE LEXICON - 1st prize winner, Carlisle May 1997 sold to Northern
Ireland for 5,800gns. He also sired the dam of
JENNYWOODSTON PORRINI - Junior
and Overall Champion in October 2000.
ANGELINA'S CH45 puts her TOP RANKED COW in breed at one point.
On arriving at Lochend we decided to A.I ANGELINA to BRIGADOON ULSTERMAN as he was EDITOR'S Sire, the resultant calf was LOCHEND LEGEND who we targeted for Perth, February 1997.

LOCHEND LEGEND
LEGEND was 1st in his class and sold for 9,500gns to top show calf producer Fraser McKay, Knockanaeron, Nairn. Sadly he was only seven months at his new home when he broke his leg and had to be put down. As AGELINA was by this time an old cow the decision was taken to flush her intensively.
To date TWELVE Embryo full Brothers
have been sold at Perth to average over 6,000gns including our most recent
success's:-
LOCHEND ROYALFLUSH, Junior and Overall Champion February
2002, was sold for 8,000gns to
Frank Johnson, County Durham.

LOCHEND ROYALFLUSH
ANGELINA was also the Dam of
LOCHEND PIRATE who was Junior
Champion in February 2001, before going on to sell for 11,000gns to Hallyards,
Meigle & Govals, Forfar. A rare feat indeed for 2 full brothers to win
Junior Championship back to back.

LOCHEND PIRATE
PIRATE, has bred two bulls to 10,000gns. He is also the sire of GOVALS ARISTOTLE, Intermediate Champion in Perth October 2006 where he sold for 6,500gns

LOCHEND MOLLY
The other main family at Lochend goes back to a heifer
bought privately from Major Walters, Balthayock.
BALTHAYOCK HERITAGE
bred us LOCHEND MOLLY,
the most consistent breeding
cow on farm to date. MOLLY (pictured above) is
the dam of LOCHEND POLLY & RASPER
(both by
MOYNESS LINCOLN).
LOCHEND POLLY
was unbeaten
in her class at eight different shows, including the 2001 Royal Highland where
she was judged champion Junior Heifer and also chosen for Interbreed Group of
Four. This was LOCHEND'S
first attempt at the
Highland.
To date
MOLLY'S sons have brought
in well in excess of 20,000gns and her heifers have all been retained for
breeding. She is also the most prolific cow in the herd, currently
carrying her 13th calf as a 14 year old cow having had
2
sets of twins.

LOCHEND RASPER
RASPER was 3rd in his class February 2002 before
being sold for 7,000gns to the Harviestoun herd.

LOCHEND APACHE
APACHE
was over 700kgs on his first birthday.
He was sold at 14 months for 4,000gns February 2007 to become
INVERLOCHY'S new herd sire.
APACHE has made a fantastic start at
INVERLOCHY. His first 7 bulls calves averaged
6,600gns at February 2010, with a top of 9,500gns for
INVERLOCHY DALI (pictured below).

INVERLOCHY DALI (SON

LOCHEND DELTA (pictured below) is an outstanding
granddaughter of MOLLY. DELTA's mother is
VIXEN, a full sister to APACHE,
DELTA won Reserve Junior Female Champion at the 2009 Scottish and
Northern Event held at PErth. Like he grand-dam she excels in breed
character and overall power. DELTA is a firm
favourite at LOCHEND. She is pictured below at
11 months old.
